Obituary For Josephine Sylvia Jean Scrivener

To us, she wasn't just Jo, she was Mum, Nana, sister, mother-in-law and beloved daughter and for many of us our best friend.

Trying to sum up Jo’s life in just a few minutes feels impossible because she was so many things to so many people. She had a heart big enough to love all her children and grandchildren fiercely, unconditionally and with that special kind of warmth only she could give.

Jo had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her home was often filled with the comforting smells of something delicious bubbling away in the kitchen. she was an amazing cook and let's be honest. She made the best Yorkshire puddings you've ever tasted - light, golden perfectly risen they were a thing of beauty and anyone who ever sat at her table knows exactly what I mean. If you were lucky enough to own something she knitted or crocheted you know that her hands like her heart were always busy creating beauty and comfort. She was the kind of person who could find humour in everyday life. A good laugh with Jo was never hard to come by, she had that twinkle in her eye, that cheeky wit and just the right thing to say at the perfect moment. Even in difficult times she had a way of lifting spirits with a quiet joke or a knowing smile. Jo Wasn't perfect, she was far better than that she was real, honest, funny, loyal and completely herself. We will miss her dearly, her laughter, her stories her warm hugs and the way she made all of us feel just a bit more at home in the world.

As we say goodbye let's carry her spirit with us. Let's keep her memory alive, not just in words but in the way we love our families, the way we share a joke and maybe even in a perfectly made roast with of course Yorkshire puddings that will never quite as good as hers.

Jo Scrivener Beloved daughter, Mum, sister, friend - thank you for everything.
